Short Bio

Niklas on Sax has been improvising live to DJ sets since the mid-80s. One of his first gigs was with the famous producer Denis Pop in Sweden (Ace of Base/ Dr. Alban)

The native Swede, who has been making music since childhood and lives in Berlin, has acquired his intuitive improvisational skills through countless performances in Berlin’s clubs as well as on the international stage. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he fell into the irresistible maelstrom of new electronic music. He soon adapted his sound to the new innovative style of music by using an effects unit. Berlin was one of the worldwide hot spots. Active cooperation with the DJ and the audience is important to him. Meanwhile he is playing along to his own DJ set.

He is one of the best DJ saxophonists in the world.

He began his professional music career in the West Berlin club scene in 1987 with regular appearances.

By using various sound effects and with his rhythmically playful runs, he always adapts to the DJ’s mix so sensitively that you forget you’re listening to a live musician at work. Especially in the early 90 ties he had regular  gigs with Ellen Alien, Mijk van Dijk, Cari Lekebusch, Heiko Laux and others.  

As a studio musician, he has contributed to productions by Dr. Alban, Cari Lekebusch, Ellen Alien, Danijel Alpha, Mijk van Dijk, Mando Diao and other well-known producers, mostly from Berlin’s electronic music scene.
